STAGE 1: Shahrukh Khan feels sorry for Pakistan players missing IPL
Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, one of the owners of the Kolkata Knight Riders Twenty20 cricket team has expressed regret over Pakistan cricketers missing IPL-3.
He expressed these views while promoting his film ”My Name Is Khan” here on Wednesday.
“Somewhere down the line, we are creating situations in our country which are making us feel that we may need to hold back our own way of welcoming people. I think this is wrong,” said Khan.
As for recruiting Pakistani players in the Kolkata Knight Riders team, he said while all the slots had been filled, he still hoped to include Pakistani cricketers in his squad.
“There is no slot in our team anymore. The last slot was taken up by Shane Bond, as we needed a fast bowler. We cannot take any more international players now,” opined Khan.

STAGE 2: SHIV SENA SLAMS SHAHRUKH
The star, who owns the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, has come under the Sena fire for his 'pro-Pakistan' stand in the recent controversy over a perceived snub to Pak players at the IPL auction.
Saying that the party can not tolerate 'anyone praising Pakistanis', it is now planning on obstructing the screening of his latest movie titled 'My Name Is Khan'. The movie is scheduled to release on Feb 12.
Over the past few days, the Bollywood icon registered his opposition against what happened at the Jan 19 IPL auction and opined that the issue could be resolved in a 'nicer' manner.
The activists have already initiated the protest against SRK by tearing the posters of the movie in Thane.
"Let us see how he dares to take in Pakistani players. We will see to it. We will not tolerate anybody praising Pakistanis. Balasaheb has already given instructions on the issue. You will see what Shiv Sena will do in the coming days," Sena leader Sanjay Raut is quoted as saying in a news report.

STAGE 3: SHAHRUKH STANDS BY IPL REMARKS
Under attack from the Shiv Sena for his remarks on the IPL fiasco, actor Shah Rukh Khan here on Tuesday said he was not apologetic for favouring the inclusion of Pakistani players and termed the activities of the party as “undemocratic.”
Standing by his comments, Shah Rukh asserted he believed that every Indian would agree that India is a “good country” and that “everyone is welcome as a guest,” but at the same time said too much importance was being attached to the words of “just an actor.”
During the promotion of his upcoming film My Name is Khan here, Shah Rukh added: “As an Indian I’m not ashamed, guilty or unhappy about what I said neither am I sorry.”
Shiv Sena activists burnt the posters of his film and threatened to ban it. “Shah Rukh should go to Pakistan if he wants to speak in favour of Pakistani players,” said Mr Anil Parab, a Shiv Sena leader.

STAGE 4: Over 1000 Shiv Sainiks detained for protesting against My Name Is Khan
In a crackdown against Shiv Sena, over 1000 of its activists were detained ahead of the release of Shah Rukh Khan starrer My Name Is Khan even as theatre owners here suspended advance bookings fearing violence.
The Sena stepped up its protest over Khan's remarks favouring inclusion of Pakistani cricketers in the upcoming IPL. In the last few days, the Sena activists have targeted 10 cinema halls in the city, removing posters, disfiguring hoardings and vandalising screens.
"In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,023 Sainiks have detained. While 955 were picked up as a preventive step, the rest were taken in on different charges, including protesting outside theatres and vandalising screens," police said.
Some of the cinema halls in the city closed bookings of the movie after Sena activists attacked theatres in Mulund and Ghatkopar area on Tuesday.
"We have closed the bookings of the film at all our properties in Mumbai since yesterday due to the Shiv Sena threat of disrupting the screenings," sources at Cinemax multiplex said.
Both Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan and police commissioner D Sivanandhan have held out the assurance of a smooth release of the film on Friday.
Tight security has been provided to 63 theatres across the city. Guidelines have also been issued to all police stations by the city police chief regarding security arrangements.
